Patricia Mckeon Campaign Reports

They're Heeeeeeere....

That's right they have hit: Patricia Mckeon's campaign reports are available online right now. Her total raised is $127,884, or once you take her $40,000 out $87,884. This proves what I speculated about that $40,000 payment: It was simply designed to artificially inflate her total. Bob Haueter had been telling everyone that should would raise over $100k, some even reported hearing him claim it would be $250k. Either way they feel short and had to resort at the last minute to putting $40K of their own money in.

As I've done so far with the other candidates here is a breakdown of what I see:

  • She had a total of 72 contributions reported. 71 excluding her own $40K
  • Of those 71 contributions only 21 were in-district. Sadly two of those are from her husbands congressional committee so it's really only 19. Let that number sink in for a moment... 19
    • Those 19 local donations only totaled $8,400.
    • Compare that to Scott Wilk who had raised, according to a release he just put out, over $40,000 of his $47,000 from with in the district & surrounding areas. Seems pretty cut and dry who has the local support.
  • Of the 71, 40 were in state for a total of $52,000. This doesn't include her $40k. It does however include the $15,600 in donations listed from her husband and from Kevin McCarthy. Take that out and here in-state support is only at $36,400. Not much higher then Headington's and far less then Wilk's.
  • Here is where the fun starts. She has 30 out of state donors for a total of $33,645. She has raised as much from out of state as she has in-state.
    • Number one out of state region she raised money in: DC metro area with 22 donation for a total of $26,045. Compare that with her in-district numbers for a second. She raised more money in DC then she did in her own district. This is no surprise but it's still very sad. Maybe she should run for DC council person or something.
    • She had 8 other donations from spread out sources across the country. 4 of them seem innocent and harmless($1,850 total). The other 4 seem to come from Buck donors who have something to gain by supporting his wife.
      • A max donation ($3,900) from a Senior Sales VP with Revision Military, a military contractor, seems like obvious influence peddling.
      • The other 3 ($1,850 total) are all from sources that seem to have connections to Bucks positions on committees.
      • I'm going to research these donations more don't worry but for know they just causght my eye.
  • Defense Contractors PAC's and Corporations seemed to give generously to her campaign. 9 contractors gave her $17,795. Once again compare that with her local support. It's quite obvious where her support is coming from and it isn't the 38th Assembly District. by the way this $18k doesn't account for donations made by employees and executives from Defense companies, just to companies/PACs themselves.
There are numerous other fishy donations here, but I think for the moment you can get the drift. Patricia Mckeon raised a bunch of money from individuals who a vested interest in HER HUSBAND, and could care less about her as a candidate. She was only able to raise $8,000 locally. The rest seems to have come from crony capitalism and influence peddling.

It's quite obvious now seeing this first report that this is a blatant attempt by the Mckeons to continue to circumvent campaign finance laws. I will continue to dig through this data in the next week and report on my continued finding.

  1. Nice work laying out all the nuances of the reports. And thanks for taking the day off from work to do this for us ;-) I know this took alot of time that most people won't spend on something this tedious and boring. Hopefully they'll make good use of your hard work.
